What is Blue Wave Learning?

Who is this for?
Shipping companies and maritime employers who need a reliable, structured way to test their staff's knowledge, rather than individual learners studying on their own.
How do we get started?
Request a demo from our contact page. We'll set your company up with an account, invite your Company Admin, and get a question bank ready for your team.
Can our staff sign up on their own?
No — access is invitation-only. Your Company Admin invites staff by email, and each person sets their own password to log in.
What kind of questions are on the assessments?
Multiple-choice questions organized into banks like Deck, Engine, and Safety. We can also build a custom question bank around your company's own standard operating procedures.
How is scoring done?
Entirely on our servers. The moment a candidate submits an assessment, their answers are checked against the correct answers and a scorecard is generated automatically — no manual grading.
Can a candidate see the answers before submitting?
No. Correct answers are never sent to the browser during an active attempt — they're only checked server-side after submission. Depending on how an assessment is configured, a review with correct answers can be shown afterward.
What stops someone from cheating or sharing answers?
Question and answer order are shuffled independently for every attempt, time limits are enforced on our servers (not just the on-screen timer), and each candidate only gets one attempt per assigned assessment unless an admin explicitly resets it.
Can one company see another company's data?
No. Every company's staff, assignments, and results are isolated from every other company's — by design, not just by convention.
Do assessments count toward official maritime certification (e.g. STCW)?
Our assessments are a competency-evaluation tool for internal company use. Whether a given assessment satisfies a specific regulatory or certification requirement is something your company should determine — see our Terms of Service for details.
How much does it cost?
Pricing scales with your fleet size and the departments you want to assess, so there isn't a single public rate that fits every company. Trying it out costs nothing up front — we start every company with a demo account and a sample question bank, and only talk pricing once your team has actually used it.
